In 1984, Master Distiller Elmer T. Lee, created Single Barrel Bourbon Whiskey.  Looking to create a bourbon of exceptionally high-quality Lee reflected on his earlier days working with Colonel Albert B. Blanton.  Colonel Blanton was the distillery's president until 1952.  When entertaining, Colonel Blanton would handpick "honey barrels" from the center of the legendary Warehouse H.  In the Colonel's honor, Mr. Lee chose the name "Blanton's" to represent the first-ever Single Barrel Bourbon.
